The 3cm Storm of the Century Edition

Ok, from now on, whenever CHCH News predicts a big snowfall, just divide their accumulation by 2. Anyways, an abbreviated schedule last weekend due to the superbowl so let's get right to it.

United Division:

Flyers 9 Sharks 4: Flyers Mike Rostecki had a napa cashew chicken salad before the game and it showed as he scored a hatty and added 2 hamburger helpers as the Flyers folded up the Sharks like a Manitoba street map 9-4. Ryan Haslam chipped in with a pair of snipes for the winners after he had a bag of Doritos and a Jolt cola. For the Sharks, Duane Marzi continued his strong season with 2 more goals in a losing cause. His contract runs out at the end of this season. Get ready folks, Marzi is due for a bigtime raise.

Oilers 8 Blackhawks 5: This game saw more back and forths than a tennis match or a ping pong game, doesn't matter just pick one. In the end, Shawn James (2g), Tristan Graham (2g) and Nick Castelli (2g) led the way for the Oil. Blaine Betzold stayed out of the box and recorded 2 assists. Final shots were 32-10 Oilers and if it wasn't was Darren O'Brien's heroics in the Hawks cage, this game could've been a lot higher. Like 12 or 13 against, Oilers were on fire.

Masters Division:

Penguins 3 Blackhawks 2: This Penguin team is harder to crack than a steel walnut. John Elter scored in the final minute as the Pens edged the Hawks 3-2 in front of a large Saturday night crowd. The pizza pizza Penguin of the game was in fact John Elter who is having quite the season. He said his back feels good and is ready for a deep playoff run with this ream. He also changed the subject when asked about re-signing for another year in SCOHA.

Bruins 4 Stars 2 : The Bruins had Terry "hitman" Hughes and Gord "chicken fried" Bryce back in the lineup after a noticeable absence. What a goal by Bruins Lee Paule (got him in the pool). This guy can fire the puck into an empty baked bean can from across the damn street. Despite getting 4 penalties, the B's managed to salvage a huge 2 points and keep pace in the tightly packed masters division standings.

Well that's all from this end of the ice. Hope everyone's having a good week.
