The January Was a Long Year" Edition

As all Scoha players get ready for dry February, last weekend's action was about as fast-paced as any fan could ask for.

United Division:

Bruins 6 Blackhawks 5. This was quite the game, folks. Too bad you missed it. Justin Mol scored the game winner with a buck 43 left as the Bruins continued their hike up the standings, beating the Hawks 6-5. Flyers rookie Dylan McInerney subbed for the Bruins and scored a pair, added an assist and was awarded the 1st star of the game. For the Hawks, Johnny Hockey scored twice and Kyle Allen had a goal of the year candidate in a losing cause.

Flyers 2 Redwings 1. Darrell Davies ( i got his rookie card) scored the winner as the Flyers edged the Wings 2-1. This was like a playoff game minus the overpriced tickets and that Swift girl up in the press box. Flyers "officer of the oblong onion bag" Paul Gabrielle stopped 43 shots for the win. Richard Forster tallied the lone goal for the Wings and even loaded up the team bus after but could only carry 23 sticks at a time.

Masters Division:

Kings 3 Bruins 2. Sam Carubba had everything under control in this one, fellas. He scored a pair, including the game winner with 14:28 left to secure a big 2 points for the Kings who were missing 4 players. They were even missing the giraffe, Ken Hutchinson, but when every guy does their job out there, teams win. For the Bruins, Bruce MacDonald and who else but Steve Horner lit the lamp.

Flyers 5 Blackhawks 5. Steve Smith is on a tear, folks. Steve had a hat trick as his Blackhawks tied the Flyers 5-5. Bill Kircos scored a beauty which leapfrogged Guy LaFleur into 19th on the all-time goals list. I say he passes Gretzky by 2046. For the Flyers, Dave Graham and Darren Joliffe both scored a pair and had a damn good game out there. Scohapicks had total goals at 14 for a payout of $360. Glad i stayed away from that one.

Stars 6 Redwings 2. Henri Marfisi and Alfonso Tinebra both tickled the twine twice as the Stars sauced the Wings 6-2. Danny DiGiacinto took an assist pill before the game and set up 3 goals for the winners. Dave "the Legend" Langille scored both goals for the Wings and this guy doesn't know what quit means. I picked him in the Scoha pool. Dry cajun wings with a side of blue cheese, can't say no to that.

Penguins 4 Sharks 1. Dave Smith (i have his rookie card) scored twice as the Pens showed the Sharks the truth 4-1. Andy Rossit had the lone goal for the Sharks who left it all on the table. GM Ron Cooper didn't allow media into the Sharks room after so we will await comment following his team's loss.

On that note, i'm going to make like a library and book. This weekend's games are right around the corner. An early prediction for Super Bowl? I say Chiefs take it 32-21.

Have a great rest of the week.
