The Last Blog of 2024 Edition

Well folks, I got an email from Masters Dale Brons who wanted me to pass along some sound advice not to do snow angels in a dog park. He didn't care to go into details but we will follow up next weekend.

Now that the turkey, stuffing and brussel sprout gas has finally left our systems, let's recap last weekend's action in the magical land of Scohaville.

United Division:

Flyers 4 Redwings 3: Who else but Ryan Haslam scored the game winner (shorthanded nonetheless) with 2:38 left on the clock to lift the Flyers past the Redwings 4-3. It ain't no Muppet Newsflash that Haslam is a smart player. He could sit on an ice cream cone blindfolded and tell you what flavour it is. If anyone playing this game was wondering what the smell was in the goalie crease, Flyers puckstopper Paul Gabrielle won a lavender bath bomb set at his work Christmas party. After the game he said the pregame lavender soak did wonders for his knees. All 7 goals in this game were scored by different players. Way to spread the scoring around like liverwurst on a ritz cracker, fellas. Thanks to Richard Forster for bailing on the Legion fish fry to spare for the Redwings.

Blackhawks 7 Bruins 3: Terry Davidson deserves a ton of accolades for his season so far. A dominant blueliner in this league, he even chipped in with 2 goals. Shawn James also added a goal and 2 tuna helpers as the Hawks preyed on the Bruins 7-3. If you give a care, I had the under 9.5 on my proline ticket. 10 bucks down the skimmer. For the Bruins, Nick "the quick" Grivich dropped a deuce in a losing cause. I firmly believe this Bruin club will right the ship in the second half of the season. You heard it here first, not up for discussion.

Masters Division:

Penguins 4 Devils 2: Tim Manning, fresh off signing his 10-year advertising contract with Gatorade, scored the game winner as the Pens wrote off the Devils 4-2. Penguins were without Steve Horner and Walt Blagdon who both had prior commitments for Canada at the Spengler Cup. The rest of the Penguins stepped up for a big 2 points. Devils Danny "the giant" Digiancinto scored with 1 second left to send the 5 Devil fans home somewhat happy.

Sharks 3 Blackhawks 2: Brad Stapleton continued his productive rookie season with the game winner as the Sharks swam past the Hawks 3-2. Sharks were down 6 guys but managed to grind their teeth and pull this one out of the water. A big 2 assist game from blueliner Mike Christensen, former Wichita Magnet star, who helped his team secure the victory. Peter Subar and Brock Hotrum replied for the Blackhawks in a losing cause.

Bruins 4 Senators 3: Richard Forster had a red bull before the game. His team was missing Big Wayne and Dwayne so he had to step up. Richard scored a hatty as the Bruins edged the Senators 4-3. Senators Larry Litzgus scored a goal and added an assist to add to his surging point totals. Strong game between the pipes by both "officers of the oblong onion bags." (goalies)

Grand Masters

Stars 3 Sharks 3: Dave Cathcart filled the damn cart in this game, scoring a pair of highlight-reel goals as his Sharks tied the Stars 3-3. What a turn around season for the Sharks. Last year they couldn't rope a 4 inch post with a 10 inch loop. Many believe that Taylor Swift coming to watch captain and GM Ron Cooper play every Sunday has a lot to do with the Sharks great season. Dating rumours still haven't been confirmed but we will try and confirm things next weekend.

Flyers 1 Redwings 1: So much for scohabet's prediction of 10 total goals in this game. Mike Lubrick and Len Potts scored for their respective teams as this one ended up a 1-1 tie. Fantastic game by both spare goalies Joe "near and" DeFaria and Ted "from the planet" Marszalek. Ice baths for both after the game for sure.

Well that's a wrap on 2024 for this blog. Action resumes next Friday and Sunday as the second half of the season commences. Hope you had a great Christmas break and that 2025 brings you good health and happiness. Special shout out to the timekeepers who are appreciated by all the players in our league. Keep up the good work! Without you we would have a blank gamesheet.
