This Week in SCOHA - May something something, 2020
Phase 1 Edition
The answer to the quiz last week "Name that Scohaian" is Glenn Rouse!!! Thanks for all those who messaged with their guess, it was fun... The weeks are getting longer and longer. This one has been agony. I am as tired as a pair of dentures after a cold buffet but the blog isn't gonna write itself so saddle up, fellas, I've got some updates on a few of the goings on from the goings on.
This week's blog is brought to you by Bill Curran's Kitchen Guitar Party... more hits than Snoop Dogg on a Friday night... I am still waiting for some Anne Murray... give him a listen, Bill is slicker than a boiled onion on the guitar.
Our league president, Terry Gudgeon, has been in constant contact with Ontario Premier Doug Ford. They've even shared cheesecake recipes. Neither Terry or Doug Ford have a clue when Scoha can start heating up the bricks for a return to the rink. Master's Stars gritty winger Chris Barratto has been practicing one timers on his driveway 4 nights a week. His garage door now has more dings than a Japanese phonebook. Meanwhile, Kings goaltender Scott Johnson is eagerly awaiting to get back to his usual reverse frontal snow angels in the crease. He has been training with Ed "Tiger King" Walton and is ready to rejuvenate his hockey career when it ramps up again. Meanwhile, over at the Verrier household, Marc had a small gathering, under 5, over for an impromptu karaoke night this past weekend. Some covid hits were belted out such as Don't Stand So Close To Me, You Can't Touch This, and a remarkable rendition of Comfortably Numb. A few neighbours didn't ask Marc to stay 6 feet away, they asked for 6 miles away after hearing him try and reach a few high notes. Other than that, I've touched base with a few Scohaians recently and the boredom is settling in. Intermediate Flyers Veljko Gavric started a puzzle back on March 20th and admits he is struggling with it. If someone can help him out, he needs to know what colour Mickey Mouse's nose is... We breezed through the Netflix show Reckoning if you are looking for something to watch. Not bad, seen worse. Even better, do a youtube search for Oilerfanatic1 for a whole whack of old 80s hockey videos, amazing collection!!! Hours of vintage footage to burn some time. Well that's all from this end of the couch. The usual wash your hands, stay home, and we are all in this together stuff. Enjoy the rest of the week, fellas. Chris Marttila
