Welcome From the Prez - Joe Venditti
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all returning and new members to the SCOHA 2002-2003 season and to also bring members up to date on league activity.
Past Year\'s Champions:
A Division - Flames
B Division - Kings
Congratulations to team reps Bob Wallace of the Flames and Rick Smith of the Kings on their team\'s successful seasons. Ice Time:
There has been no change in this year\'s ice allocation. However, the city has decided that the hourly rate will increase by +tax each year for the next 3 years. This increase for the 2002-2003 season is not reflected in the current registration fee. What the registration fee will be after this season has yet to be determined.
League Rules:
There are no rule changes for this year. Our rules are drawn from the CAHA rulebook with some exceptions:
- no slap shots (top of knee)
- no contact
- no center ice line
- no high sticks (player may not raise
stick above shoulder)
As in the past, the executive will again ask the on ice officials tp crack down on overly aggressive play and questionable conduct. As instituted last year, the following guidelines will remain in force:
- head referee will be instructed to ensure that all officials enforce rules as set by current CAHA standards
- any player ac*censored*mulating excessive number of penalty minutes will be monitored by the league which may result in a warning/suspension if warranted.
The guidelines to follow for \'Game Suspensions\' have been set as follows:
1. any player receiving a minor penalty and a gane misconduct will be expelled from that game PLUS the next scheduled game.
2. any player receiving a major penalty and a game misconduct will be expelled for that game PLUS the next 2 scheduled games.
3. any player receiving a gross misconduct/fighting penalty will be expelled from that game and will be ineligible to play in any league game until their status has been clearedby the league.
4. any player who has been expelled from 2 games during the season will have their playing status reviewed by the league.
5. any player who while under suspension participates in a league game will receive a further one game suspension and his team will forfeit that game..
