Week 8 B Division Scores and More...

Week 8 is in the books and the Flames and Sharks decided nothing in the big showdown. Another tie. This leaves room for the Avalanche and the Senators to gain some ground against the front runners in week 9.

The Flames and the Sharks played to a 4-4 tie. Half of the scoring happened in the last 2 minutes of the game with the lead changing hands twice , the Sharks going ahead with 24 seconds left and the Flames regaining the tie with 1 second left on the clock. Paul Miller(Lou Halder), Mark Verrien(from Bob Bazinet), Bob McCoy(Jim Gibson and Bruce McDonald) and Bob Bazinet(John Balsillie) scored for Heff's Flames. The Sharks got 2 goals from Rick McFarlane(Rob Waldhuber and Shawn Ellis, #2 and #14), with singles going to Brian Perrotti(Rob Waldhuber and Tom Bodnar) and Bill Wilson(#2 and #14).

The Senators crowned the Kings 3-1 with goals by Rick Saunders(#18 and John#24), #18(Rick Saunders) and Sandy MacLeod(Jim Albanese). For the Kings, in the final minute, Bruce Gundy spoiled the shutout bid scoring with assists to Frank and Paul Vespa.

The Canadians dumped the Stars 9-6 scoring 4 straight goals to erase a 6-5 Stars lead. Wayne Paxton scored 4 times for the Canadians, Al Rizzuto scored twice and singles went to Dino Giudice, Dan Kaytor and Henry Marfisi. The Blues crunched the Canucks 9-4. For the Blues, Dino Cortina scored 4 times and added 2 assists, John W. scored twice and added 2 assists, T. The Flyers outplayed the Avalanche 5-1 with Setve Lee scoring twice and adding an assist. Tom Boric had a goal and an assist, #11 had a goal and 2 assists and Bill Reid scored once. Peter Fitz?(#17) had 3 assists. Scoring for the Avalanche was Marc Baronette assisted by #18.
