The Snow, Ice and Rain Edition

Well folks, another few weeks until the big guy tries to get down your chimney. Better late than never, here’s this week’s abbreviated recap of last week’s action:

United Division:

No games played. There was a tourney happening at the rink.

Masters Division:

Leafs 3 Sharks 2: Larry “silky mitts” Litzgus scored the eventual game winner with about 7 mins left as the Leafs staved off the Sharks 3-2 in a pretty entertaining game seen live on Cable14. Nick “the quick” Miscione and Marc Ayotte also tallied goals for the winners while Jason Hoffman and Dave “Le Legende” Langille found the mark for the Sharks who had quite a few chances late but Leaf goalie Sandro Morrone stood on his head to secure the 2 points.

Senators 4 Bruins 4: Bruins veteran Bill “aluminum” Foley was up to his usual antics out there, scoring a peppermint hatty as his Bruins tied the Senators 4-4 in a back-and-forth affair the fans really enjoyed. The Sens got goals from Ken “the giraffe” Hutchinson, Marc “taco” Bellhumeur, Henry Marfisi and Eric Pearson while Brock Hotrum had his passing hat on underneath his helmet, piling up 3 assists for the tie. Sandro Morrone must’ve slept well after this night, he played both Masters games, we thank him for stepping up and subbing for the Bruins. Sens defenceman Paul Courville apparently tried to organize a hide and seek tournament over the weekend but players were hard to find.

Grand Masters Division:

Bruins 2 Kraken 1: Bruins Grant King was held out of the lineup due to an fbi betting scandal on some previous SCOHA games. We will try and get an update on this developing story as we hear more. On the ice, it was “Christmas” Yves Bisson scoring the game winner with a shade under 2 minutes left in the game as the Bruins edged the Kraken 2-1. The Bruins welcomed journeyman John Bearisto to the lineup and he contributed on the Bruins 1st goal. John couldn’t bear to be out of the lineup any more according to reports. Steve Kivell, who else, scored the lone Kraken goal as he continues to raise eyebrows in his quest to win the point scoring crown. Solid game between the pipes for both “corporals of the corrugated cages” J.J.Macneil and Joe DeFaria, two seasoned vets looking to take their respective clubs to the championship.

Stars 3 Blackhawks 1: Robert DiGiovanni scored with a highlight-reel goal with about 4 mins left in the first stanza to help guide the stars to a 3-1 win over the Blackhawks. Ed “the snake” Venema and Bruno DiGiovanni also scored for the Stars while Al Oddie, who almost missed the game due to his booth at the church Christmas bizarre selling whimsical windchimes running a bit later than expected, had the lone goal for the Hawks. The Stars were down Chris Baratto who was seen at Limeridge Mall doing security for the Salvation Army kettle campaign but apparently they did ok without their fearless leader. Barry Walker turned aside 22 shots for the solid win.

Sharks 7 Flyers 0: Good Greef, Charlie Brown, what happened here. The Sharks buried the Flyers 7-goose as this game went pear-shaped in the second half. Guy “6-blade retractable beard and nose hair” Shaver carried the water pail for the Sharks, scoring 4 goals while Ernie Dunston wasn’t done, he chipped in with 3 assists for the winning side. Ditto for Dan McLaughlin who also recorded 3 granny smith apples. Brian Deanes told the fellas before the game the Flyers weren’t getting anything by him and he was a man of his word, turning aside 18 shots for the shutout, his 59th of his illustrious career, putting him 3 behind Leaf great Ken Wregget.

Anyways, that’s all for this week, hope everyone has a good rest of the week.
