2016/2017 Junior, Intermediate and Masters play-offs

The First place, second place and third place teams play a round robin  against the fourth, fifth and sixth place teams. This takes 3 games (weeks) .

1 vs 4    -    2 vs 4    -   3 vs 4

1 vs 5    -    2 vs 5    -   3 vs 5

1 vs 6    -    2 vs 6    -   3 vs 6

Then, the top four teams are re-seeded and play a semi-final 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3 with the winners advancing to the Championship.

I like this format as it eliminates the need for Overtime to be like a game 3 and the Regular Season Matters.

 3-3-3-2-1  - 12 games

There are no timeouts in the round robin series (1st round).

All 1st and 2nd round games are the same as regular season games . (2 – 16 min. periods)

Championship games are 2 – 20 min. periods with a flood between 1st and 2nd periods.

Two (2) points will be awarded for a win, one (1) point for a tie. There will be no overtime during round robin series. (1st Round)

    A) In the event of two (2) teams tied after round robin series (1st round), the following tie breaker format will be used =

        1) Record against other tied team

        2) Total wins

        3) goals for minus goals against (+ / -)

(note) difference between goals scored by a team and the goals scored against that team over the 3 game round robin (1st round).

        4) least goals against over the 3 game round robin (1st round).

        5) least penalty minutes over the 3 game round robin (1st round).

        6) record against other team in regular season

        7) Toss of a coin

   B) In the event of three (3) or four (4) teams tied after round robin series, the following tie breaker format will be used =

         2) goals for minus goals against (+ / -)

(note) difference between goals scored by a team and the goals scored against that team over the 3 game round robin (1st round).

        3) least goals against over the 3 game round robin (1st round).

        4) Least penalty minutes over the 3 game round robin (1st round).

        5)Toss of a coin

In the event of a tie, Round #2 and #3 (Semi & Championship Games) will be decided by;

        1) Five (5) minutes stop time, sudden victory - Four (4) skaters plus a goalie, change only on the fly.Any penalties in regulation play carries over               into the overtime. (play 4 skaters to 3 skaters)

        2) If still tied a sudden victory shoot-out will take place, Home team will decides, to shoot first or shoot second, shooters go individually. Both                   teams will shoot 3 times and the team with the most goals wins. If still tied, the 4th shooter and on is sudden death, first to score while the                 opponent fails to score, wins. All players must have had a shot prior to a player taking a second shot.

Any Player serving a penalty that has not expired at the end of the five (5) minute overtime is ineligible to participate in the shootout.

         3) Each team has one (1) 30 sec timeout per game.

         4) When a team needs a backup goalie (of the same rating), we use goalies in the same division first, spare list second and goalies from the                    other division third.
